BEESWAX is a pendant light sculpture by Pablo Bolumar. Made of beeswaxed canvas, the lampshade generates a warm textured light, accentuating the pleats and wrinkles of the making. The hanging artwork carries a subtle scent of honey and propolis, collected by hundreds of bees from the east of Spain. The scent is gently activated with the LED light source.
BEESWAX fuses craftsmanship with high-end industrial design, challenging the common processes used in lampshade making. The material used as a light diffuser is beeswaxed canvas, which generates an organic spherical volume without the need for a plastic lining. The pleated lampshade is held by pressure between recyclable aluminum components, avoiding the use of adhesives. The design is conceived to facilitate disassembling, reparation, and biodegradability in a graceful and expressive way.
